An estimated one million birds, 100,000 turtles, and much more sea life die each year due to ingesting plastic or becoming entangled in the plastic. They confuse the plastic with jellyfish and plankton, only for the plastic to block their digestive tracts leading to their deaths. These plastic bags make their way to the oceans and waterways due to being so lightweight. They can get picked up by the wind and clutter the beaches and waters.

And the paper to plastic choice isn’t helping much, either. When you opt for paper bags, more trees are getting cut down and the energy used to cut down those trees are expanding.
