As a chiropractor, one of the great parts about working with pets is that they are much more intuitive than their humans. For one, after the initial examination, most animals become very aware of who I am and what I am there to do. As the visits continue, the majority of animals get excited to get adjusted and will associate the chiropractor with the big sense of relief and happiness that they experience afterwards.
A follow-up consult is truly not much different than an initial exam, though perhaps the history taking part is lessened. I always ask for an update on the pet, note any changed behaviors (good or bad), and then continue on with the same examination performed the first time around.
With animals, there is no set pattern each time they come in. Though they may have very similar findings, something new could pop up or something else could have easily resolved. Each visit ends up being another examination from head to toe, mainly because the animals cannot tell me about all the experiences they’ve had since their last visit.
The beauty in animal chiropractic is that each visit builds upon the one prior and, at the same time, they are all starting from scratch. It’s as if I get to go on a scavenger hunt to figure out what Fifi has done to herself and then fix her up again!
Please note that all chiropractic care is given with the consent of a veterinarian, veterinarian referral, or in a veterinarian office. If you’ve scheduled an appointment, please bring this completed form with you.
