What is Plantain?
Plantain (Plantago major) is a great herb for skin ailments.
How it Helps:
Plantain can be a topical skin poultice for insect bites, stings, minor burns, and dermatitis. It is especially useful if you come in contact with stinging nettle or poison ivy. Besides its uses for the skin, it is also highly nutritious. Plantain contains calcium, potassium, sulfur, trace minerals, and vitamins A, C, and K. The seed husks are used as the psyllium supplement known to help with intestinal issues and provide a good source of fiber.
When taken internally, plantain can relieve diarrhea and other inflammations of the bowels. It can also treat irritations of the stomach and urinary system. When used for stomach ailments, it neutralizes stomach acids and secretions and promotes normal bowel functions!
Plantain is also known for its alterative, antiseptic, antispasmodic, emollient, febrifuge, parasiticide, and vulnerary properties.
How to use Plantain:
When using plantain with pets, it is best to use it fresh. Cats can take up to a teaspoon of the plant's juices daily to help treat colic, remove sand from the digestive tract, and reduce internal inflammation.

Hi Sheila, I am so glad she likes it.
I brought some in for myself and my cat started eating it lol glad to know it’s good for her
Just observed a Boston Bull Female Terrier, she was eating Plantain voraciously, outside by the resident Pond. Her owner was concerned. I assured her it was okay. Glad to read that it was indeed good, and the dog must have needed it. I will offer it to my Cat, as she enjoys grass, and I believe that she may enjoy this as well. Thank You, for this timely information.
