Lavender flowers are the most frequently used part of the herb. There are at least 28 species of lavender. So be sure you have Lavender angustifolia before picking it for medicinal uses.
Uses for and Healing Properties of Lavender
Lavender can be used for culinary, cosmetic, and medicinal purposes. You can be creative with lavender and use it in dressings or infused in honey for culinary purposes. Lavender is great to use is for any skin ailments because of its antibacterial, astringent, analgesic, and antispasmodic properties. You can use the dried aerial parts of the plant as an external rinse to relieve pain and itching caused by dermatitis, fleabites, or topical bacterial infections. Lavender can also be used for headaches and situations of extreme stress, depression, or nervous debility. Lavender also has rubefacient and carminative properties.
