The foundation of holistic health is an all-encompassing healthy lifestyle. When we promote all aspects of our pets' health and healing through holistic practices, then they will not only live more enriching lives, but also longer ones.
Holistic health and healing are based on the premise that the body can heal and strengthen itself when given the right tools. We've talked about some of these tools and practices before. But today, we're putting them all together as a foundation for you to build upon.
Holistic Healing Practices for Pets
Nutrition and Diet:
Feeding our pets the best diet possible is crucial to their well-being. By feeding them healthy, biologically appropriate foods, we promote their better health and healing from the inside out.
Herbology:
Herbology is a form of healing that uses herbal remedies to sooth and absolve different ailments. With the right herbal remedies, you can ease your pet of many maladies, from digestive problems to skin issues.
Essential Oils:
Essential oils have so many purposes, from helping arthritic pets to transitioning a new pet into your house, and even helping your pet pass at the end of life. The most common ways to use essential oils are through aromatherapy, topical absorption, and ingesting. Aromatherapy is useful when you need to calm an entire house. You can apply essential oils topically for particular health ailments and you can even encapsulate certain oils for ingesting or adding it to drinking water. Keep in mind that when applying topically or using in capsules, the essential oils need to be diluted according to your animal's weight.
Iridology:
Iridology is the study of the iris and what it tells us about the body. By studying the patterns, structure, discoloration, or other attributes of the iris fibers, you can determine where the body needs support. Iridology can also reveal inherited strengths or weaknesses, overall health levels, and body constitution.
Energy Work:
Pet energy work promotes healing on several different levels including our physical, mental, emotional and spiritual states. By using the power of sound and/or crystals, you can encourage healing and internal peace within your pet.
Massage:
Pet massage practices are based on the healing properties of Reiki Energy, the healing power of transferring energy from one being to another through touch. Pet massage is great for promoting flexibility, releasing tension, and rehabilitation.
