Sometimes the best way to groom is to combine visits to a professional groomer with in-between maintenance grooming sessions at home!

The Best of Both Worlds
Grooming your pet, on the whole, is great for maintaining a healthy skin and coat. Pet owners should schedule professional grooming while practicing basic grooming skills at home. Even simple grooming care at home, such as brushing to avoid matting and cleaning the eyes and ears to avoid infections, is a great idea to keep your pet comfortable and healthy in the downtime between professional visits.
Grooming Safety
Dogs and cats are moving targets! And although groomers are trained in handling them while using sharp equipment, give them a helping hand by constantly and reassuringly touching your pet's face and feet as these are the areas groomers struggle with most. Practice these techniques to help your pet and your groomer achieve the look you want, safely.
Above and Beyond Basic Grooming
Groomers are up close and personal with your pets! We’re exposed to many things owners are not, simply because they are unaware or do not check those areas. Having an extra set of eyes - and hands - helping to monitor the health and well-being of your pet is always a great idea. Things commonly found while grooming are:
- Matting
- Allergies
- Fleas/Ticks/Worms
- Ear/Eye/Tooth Infections
- Ingrown Toe Nails
- Moles/Warts
- Blocked Anal Glands
- Kidney Stones
I hope you have found these tips useful and will keep your pet on a regular grooming schedule. My name is Melissa Van Etten and I was introduced to the Pet Beastro when I enrolled my Chinese Crested Miso in puppy class. I have been grooming for six years - three years currently at Doggie Style Pet Grooming in Warren, Michigan. I enjoy the feeling of helping pets and educating clients on the importance of grooming.
So glad you found the tips helpful. ;)
Awesome tips. Especially keeping eyes and ears clean.
