Dana Scott of Dogs Naturally Magazine
A rare opportunity to empower yourself, for your pet
SEPTEMBER 12, 2015; 10:00 am-4:00 pm: The Pet Beastro is pleased to announce an upcoming seminar with renowned pet naturalist Dana Scott, founder of Dogs Naturally Magazine. She has used her degree in physiology to gain a deeper understanding of the dog’s unique physiology and how it should impact the diet - and she’s overcome the false ideal of “evidence-based medicine” which has allowed her to grow her skills in homeopathy and other methods of holistic care.
Because the path was difficult, and because the benefits of the natural lifestyle were so immense, Dana founded Dogs Naturally Magazine to build a vibrant and supportive community for other concerned dog owners to learn and share. Today, the magazine is the fastest-growing dog publication and the largest homeopathic magazine in the world. The website and social media pages are viewed by over 10 million pet owners a month and the growth triples annually, in part due to the magazine’s partnership with leading holistic vets and experts. Dana is a sought-after speaker and writer who has been interviewed for radio and TV, including ABC and CBC news.
During this 6-hour seminar, Dana will tackle the following tough topics:
-Suppression: Why conventional pet medicine is backward
-Creating health from within
-Pet nutrition
-Pet immune system
-Vaccinations
-Pest Control is backward thinking
-What vets don’t tell you about spay and neuter
-Working with your dog (even when it’s against your vet)
-The two-legged stool: don’t forget emotions
Every loving dog owner needs to feel that they not only have the tools necessary to care for their beloved pet in the truly healthiest way possible but the knowledge to speak for their dog when they cannot speak for themselves. Dana Scott’s seminar will empower you to do just that. ...and did we mention free samples?

THE PET BEASTRO IN MADISON HEIGHTS
HOSTING A FUNDRAISER FOR
DETROIT FAMILY IN NEED THAT HELPED HER IN TIME OF NEED
* McCaughan Family just asks for a good Christmas for their kids
MADISON HEIGHTS, MI -- In November, Jill Tack’s dogs were barking and making such a fuss that she got up to see what was going on outside, only to discover that her Jeep was being stolen from out of her driveway and down the street. Jill is the owner of the Pet Beastro on John R in Madison Heights, a store that offers the healthiest dog and cat food available, as well as an assortment of treats, toys, and holistic products.
Tack is studying to be a naturopath and all of her very expensive textbooks and notebooks were in the back seat of the Jeep. It’s not the Jeep with which she is concerned, but the books and notes, as she needs to take finals in January.
A day after her story aired on WDIV TV, a man in Detroit called to say that he had found a pile of books and notebooks by the curb. Tack visited the man and sure enough, she was able to recover about 90% of what was lost. Tack was deeply moved by this and asked the man what she could do in return for his kindness. All he said was, “I just want a good Christmas for my kids.”
To help make that happen, Tack is hosting a Natural Health & Wellness Fundraiser store located at 27637 John R Road in Madison Heights on Saturday, December 17 from 2 to 7 pm featuring 20-minute natural health appointments of Iridology Readings, Reflexology, Nutrition & pH Consultation, chair massage, and Bach Flower Assessment with Remedy, and Muscle Testing. All wellness appointments will be with a Natural Health Educator from the Naturopathic Institute of Therapies & Education.
Tack is asking for donations of healthy snacks, new or gently used size 10 boys & girls clothes, or any living room furniture for the event. There is a suggested minimum donation of $15 per service, however, any donation amount will be gladly accepted with or without a naturopathic appointment. There will also be homemade lip balms, soaps, bath salts, and lotions for sale which make great Holiday gifts. Proceeds will go directly to helping the family that found her textbooks to ensure they have a wonderful Christmas.
“I honestly do not know how I would have studied to pass my exams without this person’s help,” says Tack. “This act of kindness certainly renews one’s spirit. We hope to raise enough money to make their Christmas extra special this year.”
Jill Tack is the owner of the Pet Beastro, President for Compassion for Greyhounds
, and a student at Naturopathic Institute of Therapies and Education. For more information, to make a donation, and to arrange interviews please call Jill Tack at 248/548-3448 or visit www.thepetbeastro.com.

THE FIRST AND THIRD THURSDAY OF EACH MONTH
STARTING IN FEBRUARY 2011
* Pet Beastro and A New Leash on Life team up to find homes for felines
MADISON HEIGHTS, MI – The Pet Beastro, 27637 John R Road, and A New Leash on Life are teaming up to offer cat and kitten adoptions on the first and third Thursday of each month from 6 to 8 pm starting in February 2011. For a fee of only $65 per cat or $100 per kitten, people can adopt a feline friend that is healthy, spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and in some cases de-clawed in front. Adoption applications can be obtained at The Pet Beastro or at www.anewleashonliferescue.org.
“A New Leash on Life currently has about 20 cats that are in foster homes, that have been surrendered by their owners, or in some cases that have been found as stray cats,” says Jill Tack, Owner of The Pet Beastro. “Depending on the availability of the foster homes, we will have as many adoptable cats as possible at each adoption event for you to meet.” According to Deb Eberhardt of A New Leash on Life, the cats are in foster homes and are learning to socialize with other animals, and learning home life. “We interview each prospective adoptee to see if they are a good fit for the pet for which they are interested,” says Eberhardt. “Once approved we do same-day adoptions. We provide them a copy of all medical records for that pet. All of them are up to date on their shots, have all been examined by a licensed veterinarian, and have all tested negative for feline leukemia.”

THE PET BEASTRO CELEBRATES
ONE-YEAR ANNIVERSARY IN MADISON HEIGHTS
* Successful first year leads to an increased product line, educational services, and possible expansion
MADISON HEIGHTS, MI – The Pet Beastro is celebrating its one-year anniversary at 27637 John R Road in Madison Heights, a successful year that led to increased product lines, educational seminars and services, and possible plans of expanding into other markets. Owner Jill Tack, predicts a 35% increase in revenues in 2011.
The 1,200 square foot location had an original build-out cost of just over $30K, and Tack has made several improvements since then to accommodate new products. The store supports Michigan pet food manufacturers like Overby Farms Dog and Cat Treats, Wrigley Rewards Dog Treats, Free Range, Go Cat Cat Toys, and PNR Farms Raw Pet Food.
“A big part of our success is the educational seminars and pet nutrition information we have in the store,” says Tack. “Even in the tough economy our customers are very interested in bettering their cat or dog’s health, and many of the mainstream pet food stores simply don’t have the solutions that we are able to provide. Our goals are to add more new products and educational seminars throughout the year.”
In 2003 Tack was searching for a holistic answer as to her Husky’s colitis issue, and that is when she stumbled across Oma’s Pride Pet Foods. After some research into the company’s pet food, she found a natural product that worked. She began distributing the company’s products and eventually opened The Pet Beastro.
“Since opening my business, I have learned even more about pet nutrition and how our environment plays a part too,” says Tack. “It just isn’t a diet that makes a better pet but the pet’s caregiver also has a role in the pet’s health. As pet owners, we still need to provide our pets with adequate exercise, freshwater, low-stress, and smoke-free environment, better nutrition, etc.”
The Pet Beastro specializes in healthy, holistic foods and treats for cats and dogs, like whole meats, natural grain-based, dehydrated vegetables and fruits, raw meats – domestic and exotic, and more. For information about The Pet Beastro and interviews with Jill Tack, please call 248/548-3448.

FROM THE WILD TO THE ECLECTIC NATURAL FOOD & TREATS
CATER TO THE CARNIVORE IN THE FAMILY PET
* New items for dogs and cats are a throwback to 60 years ago
MADISON HEIGHTS, MI – Dehydrated bunny ears, beef or lamb tracheas, tripe and trachea rollups, freeze-dried chicken hearts, beef tendon chews, cheese, and liver treats, raw bones with marrow, elk antlers, and dehydrated haddock – hardly everyday staples for man’s best friend. Or are they?
According to Jill Tack, owner of The Pet Beastro in Madison Heights, these items that are now considered treats were fed to dogs 60 years ago before the advent of commercially produced dog foods and when America relied more on farming.
“People had to provide for their dogs what they could, and that typically was unusable parts of raw meats from preparing meals,” says Tack. “Dogs by nature are carnivores and love these types of treats we consider unusual. They’re natural and actually good for dogs for many reasons.”
Tack has made it her mission to discover all types of healthy, organic foods for dogs and cats since one of her dogs became ill some years ago. She refused to believe that nothing could be done to help her dog, so she began doing extensive research. That led her to begin selling organic dog foods, and eventually opening The Pet Beastro. Since opening earlier this year, Tack has expanded her offerings for cats and dogs.
Some of the new offerings include foods from Party Animal, an organic company that offers ten different canned flavors of certified organic, grain-free canned dog foods featuring chicken, turkey, lamb, and salmon. Another hot seller is Grandma Lucy’s freeze-dried food that when re-hydrated will make up to 55 pounds of grain-free food without by-products or preservatives. These bags contain meats, potato, carrot, celery, apple, blueberry, and other healthy items, in flavors such as venison, chicken, bison, lamb, pork, and for cats, fish. Grandma Lucy’s also offers organic treats for dogs in ginger, blueberry, and pumpkin flavors.
Both Party Animal and Grandma Lucy’s are all-natural, corn, wheat, and soy-free and made in the USA.
“One of our big sellers is the raw diet,” says Tack. “People are under the misconception that animals shouldn’t have raw meats, but it’s just the opposite. Dogs and cats can eat raw bones and digest them easily enough, and it’s healthy for them. Its cooked bones are problematic. We offer bags of raw chicken and other protein options, as well as exotic meats and frozen raw bones. Animals love them.”
